The play spans over 18 years (the entire of both brothers' lives). We really feel like we have begun to know them so, when they die, we feel like it is personal to us because, over the two acts, we have become invested in the characters
- So, when they die, we are left stunned, realising the overall moral which states that social injustice and bigotry is wrong, potentially making the audience change their ways to avoid this happening in their personal lives.
