          • exploitation
          • corporal punishment

          • USA - 16-17, although in some states its mandatory until 18
    • Economic Factors
      • Cost of education means the girls forfeit their education, especially at secondary level
        • This then leads to a growth in the divide and inequality between males and females, meaning women are more disadvantaged
          • Work in jobs which are very low skilled and very low paid in comparison to males - creating this large inequality
      • Helps determine social factors
      • Gneder parity - male:female participation in the work force
        • Malawi - 1:1.042, yet females work in smaller farms with more strenuous work
        • UK - 1:0.81, but males and females work in same/similar job roles
    • Political factors
      • government support and investment into removing, or even reducing, the inequality gap
      • inadequate legislation to protect women and their rights
        • In UK there is the equality act where no one can be discriminated against
          • this prevents gender inequality
