  • Smear test for cervical cancer
    • Woman between 25-64
    • Client undress from waist down and lie on table with legs open
      • Doctor/nurse will use an instrument called speculum and insert it into the vagina
        • Speculum holds walls of the vagina open so cervix can be seen
          • A small brush- like instrument will be used to gently collect some cells from the surface of the cervix
            • Cell sample sent to a laboratory for analysis
    • Looks for abnormal cell changes
    • Positive result is abnormal cell changes and/ or HPV
