  • Sexism in today's world
    • Men still get paid more than women
      • Male dominated jobs and careers are seen as hostile for women (e.g engineering, computer science)
        • Fewer women get into engineering etc due to patterns of sexism that starts in school
        • 0.3% of girls take computer science at college
          • Before girls go to college, computer science is seen as a male dominant area
      • Careers that attract women most (teaching, social work) are low paying because they are considered a "womens' work"
      • In the US, women get paid 77 cents for every dollar a man earns
    • Women are expected to raise children
      • Single mums
      • Have breaks from their jobs due to pregnancy
    • Take their husbands name
      • Move in with them
      • Endure pain during pregnancy
      • Expected to have children and make sandwitches
    • Expected to look and dress a certain way to 'impress' the male species.
    • Women are not people but just objects
  • Women are expected to raise children
    • Single mums
    • Have breaks from their jobs due to pregnancy

I like this but I want to point out that women aren't expected to make sandwiches. That might be pushing it a bit. I know people say that women are expected to make sandwiches but I don't think it's an actual expectation but, a silly joke. Another thing is that I don't think it's sexist for women to stop working due to pregnancy, if anything that's a good thing because a woman can't handle all that stress at once. Women also don't have to take a man's last name or move in with them, it can be the other way around and no one says you have to get pregnant. aside from that, good mind map!
