  • SELF-EFFICACY
    • BANDURA'S SELF-EFFICACY model outlines four factors relevant to the self-efficacy of a sports performer.
      • EFFICACY EXPECTATIONS
        • ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE
        • PERFORMANCE ACCOMPLISHMENTS
        • VERBAL PERSUASION
        • EMOTIONAL AROUSAL
        • MODELLING-VICARIOUS EXPERIENCES
    • VICARIOUS EXPERIENCES
      • VICARIOUS EXPERIENCES consists of what has BEEN OBSERVED IN OTHERS performing a similar skill. This is most effective if the model is of similar age or ability and is successful
        • This may lead to greater self0efficacy
    • emotional arousal
      • If AROUSAL is too high, the STATE ANXIETY can be too high. This could lead to low self-efficacy.
        • Mental rehearsal or physical relaxation techniques could lead to greater confidence and a calmer approach
          • This also contributes to self-efficacy
    • PERFORMANCE ACCOMPLISHMENTS
      • PERFORMANCE ACCOMPLISHMENTS consists of PAST EXPERIENCES. If this is successful, then this leads to greater self-efficacy at this particular task in the future.
    • VERBAL PERSUASION
      • VERBAL PERSUASION can lead to greater self-efficacy if the person giving encouragement is of HIGH STATUS compared with the performer.
