  • Schemes aimed at reducing the impact of globalisation on the environment and people
    • Recycling Scheme of Birmingham City Council
      • How do they run their scheme?
        • There are three kerbside collection schemes. •Paper & Card Recycling (Blue Bag/Box). Introduced 2003. Container emptied every 2 weeks. •Plastic Bottles (PET & HDPE), Glass, Aluminium & Tins Recycling (Green Box). Introduced 2005. Container emptied every 2 weeks. •Garden Waste Recycling (Green Sacks). Introduced 2005.
          • The three schemes are now available to most of Birmingham's homes depending on whether they have a garden. The Paper & Garden Waste recycling facility is available to all houses in Birmingham. The Green Box scheme is going to be available to all houses later this year. Every year 3500 tonnes of paper and 8900 tonnes of wood are recycled. There are five household recycling centres and over 400 recycling banks across the whole of Birmingham.
      • How does this reduce the impact of globalisation?
        • Recycling can reduce the impact of globalisation as many resources that otherwise would be wasted by people are either remade into other products or properly disposed of and it also reduces the effects of climate change as local recycling schemes reduces the need for waste to be transported to be disposed of
    • Circular Economy
      • What is it?
        • A circular economy (often referred to simply as "circularity") is an economic system aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources
