- Louis had 25,000 troops in Paris-Versaille area. He felt strongly enough to dismiss Necker( Necker was at height of his popularity.
- Necker's dismissal inspired popular demonstrations when it reached Paris against the King. Paris feared the King was attempting to restore power by force.
