  • Sampling techniques
    • Random: every member of the target population has an equal chance of selection
      • strength= not biased, equal chance
      • limitation- researcher may still end up with a biased sample if sample is too small
    • Opportunity: using whoever is available
      • strength= easiest method because it takes less time to locate a sample
      • limitation= biased because its drawn from a small part of target pop
    • Volunteer: using whoever puts themselves forward
      • strength= access a variety of participants- more representative and less biased
      • limitation= biased- more motivated with less time on their hands
