- Small animals walking through the grass will fall into the container
- A small amount of water should be at the bottom of the container so creatures do no escape
- Light traps
- Used to collect flying insects at night
- Consists of UV light that attracts insects
- Under the light is a container containing alcohol
- Insects fall into the alcohol
- Sweep netting including use of pooter
- Sweep through the vegetation with a stout net
- Small animals will be collected in the net
- Identify the animals, using a pooter that try to fly away
- Suitable for low vegetation that isn't too 'woody'

- Place the leaf litter in the funnel
- A light drives animal downwards as the litter dries out
- Animals fall through a mesh screen and collected in a jar
