      • Christianity believes in the equality of ALL human beings.

        • Treated people the same and cared for all- even if they were outcasts, female, sick, foreign.

      • DESMOND TUTU: "I pray that Our Lord would open our eyes so that we would see the real,the true identity of each one of us..."
      • MARTIN LUTHER KING: "We must love our white brothers, no matter what they do to us.."
      • CHRISTIAN RESPONSES
        • Sit-ins to protest white only establishments.
        • Challenging those who make racist comments or jokes.
        • Boycotts until the racism and discrimination stops.
    • CHRISTIANITY AND OTHER RELIGIONS
      • Some Christians believe that only Christians will receive eternal life.
      • CHristians believe that only people who follow Jesus' beliefs and follow his teachings, will be given eternal life.
      • Some christians refuse to mix with people of other religions.
      • Some Christians believe that there are good moral teachings in other religions and some beliefs are like theiur own
      • Christians want all to have eternal life which is why they evangelise.
      • All are equal in the eyes of God,so Christians should treat people who believe different things as equals.
    • SEXISM IN CHRISTIANITY
      • SEXIST
        • "Women... be subject to your husbands."
        • “Women should remain at home, sit still, keep house and bear children"
        • “A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I permit no women to teach or have authority over men, she is to keep silent. ”
        • "Women should stay silent in church."
        • All of Jesus' disciples were men.
        • St Paul's teachings say women should not lead and teach men.
      • NOT SEXIST
        • Jesus repeatedly talked to women, and even 'outcast' women such as prostitiutes.
        • Jesus appeared to women first after his resurrection. Gave them the responsibility of telling the other disciples.
        • Perhaps Jesus did not make women disciples because men would not have spoken to them.
        • "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
        • Anglican churches allow women to be priests and bishops.
        • The Church of England allowed women to become vicars in 1992
