  • Rearmament
    • Why it happened
      • Hitler came into power in 1933 and one of his first steps was to increase Germany's armed forces.
      • Thousands of unemployed workers were drafted into the army and this helped decrease the rates of unemploymen-t.
        • But this also helped him in obtaining his promise of making Germany great again, and he was also trialling the terms of the Treaty of Versailles.
    • When it happened
      • The disarmament conference on 1934 had shown that other nations were not ready to disarm.
      • Hitler came to power in 1933.
      • In 1935 Hitler openly staged a massive military rally celebrating the German armed forces.
      • In 1936 he reintroduced conscription.
      • In 1935 Britain helped Germany to dismantle the treaty by signing a naval agreement with Hitler.
        • This  allowed Germany to expand its navy  up to 35% of the size of the British navy.
    • How it happened
      • Rearmament started as a secret at first and Hitler even lied to other countries about not even wanting to rearm, which was the total opposite to what he told his own country.
        • He only did this because other countries refused to disarm themselves.
      • He then withdrew from the  league just like Japan's example.
      • In 1935, Hitler openly staged a massive military rally celebrating the German armed forces.
        • In 1936, he even reintroduced conscription.
      • Rearmament was a very popular move in Germany, and increased Nazi support.
