- Why it happened
- Hitler came into power in 1933 and one of his first steps was to increase Germany's armed forces.
- Thousands of unemployed workers were drafted into the army and this helped decrease the rates of unemploymen-t.
- But this also helped him in obtaining his promise of making Germany great again, and he was also trialling the terms of the Treaty of Versailles.
- When it happened
- The disarmament conference on 1934 had shown that other nations were not ready to disarm.
- Hitler came to power in 1933.
- In 1935 Hitler openly staged a massive military rally celebrating the German armed forces.
- In 1936 he reintroduced conscription.
- In 1935 Britain helped Germany to dismantle the treaty by signing a naval agreement with Hitler.
- This allowed Germany to expand its navy up to 35% of the size of the British navy.
- How it happened
- Rearmament started as a secret at first and Hitler even lied to other countries about not even wanting to rearm, which was the total opposite to what he told his own country.
- He only did this because other countries refused to disarm themselves.
- He then withdrew from the league just like Japan's example.
- In 1935, Hitler openly staged a massive military rally celebrating the German armed forces.
- In 1936, he even reintroduced conscription.
