- Fourth pillar This is fasting, which means eating no food. Muslims fast during the 9th month of the year, they take no food or drink during the hours of daylight

- Muslims who are physically or mentally unwell as well as if you are pregnant can be excused from Sawm. Another reason you can be excused is if you are too young or too old to fast

- Iftar is the meal which is eaten after sunset during Sawm. Since people have not eaten all day when it comes to iftar people are usually really hungry so want to eat fast
