  • Interference theory
    • What?
      • Refers to things you have learnt that make it difficult to recall other information that you have learnt
      • This can result in forgetting one of the bits of information or both
      • Interference is worse when the memories are similar but is less likely if there is a gap between learning
    • Types
      • Retroactive interference
        • When information we have learnt obstructs our ability to recall information we have learnt previously
      • Proactive interference
        • When the information we have already learnt obstructs our ability to recall new information
