    • criticism 1 - illusions + hallucinations
      • objects have the properties we percieve them to have e.g.stick bent in water is bent
      • illusion + hallucination as real as everything else
        • Berkeley counter - illusions/hallucinations not as vivid as real life
    • criticism 2 - trap of solipism (all that can be known to exist is my own mind)
      • theory runs into risk of falling into solipism
    • criticism 3 - regularity + continuity
      • when no one percieves an object it ceases to exist
        • e.g. leave apple after 2 weeks, open drawer, apple has rotten so clearly exsited and rotted over time
