- Problems with Idealism
- criticism 1 - illusions + hallucinations
- objects have the properties we percieve them to have e.g.stick bent in water is bent
- illusion + hallucination as real as everything else
- Berkeley counter - illusions/hallucinations not as vivid as real life
- criticism 2 - trap of solipism (all that can be known to exist is my own mind)
- theory runs into risk of falling into solipism
- criticism 3 - regularity + continuity
- when no one percieves an object it ceases to exist
- e.g. leave apple after 2 weeks, open drawer, apple has rotten so clearly exsited and rotted over time
- when no one percieves an object it ceases to exist
- criticism 1 - illusions + hallucinations
