  • Private members bills
    • Public bills that are introduced by MP's and Lords who are not Government Ministers
    • Less Parliamentary times are given to them, and therefore, only a minority become laws
    • Ballot - At the beginning of each parliament session, 20 MP's are randomly picked and they have the opportunity to bring new ideas forward
    • 10 Minute Rule - They have 10 minutes to propose their idea, cause or new proposal
    • Standing Order 57 - If there is a gap in the Parliamentary timetable, it allows the opportunity for any backbench MP's to bring forward a new idea
