    • The government were allowed to change people everyday lives.
      • They changed the British time, so that we put our clocks forward so that people had more daylight hours to work in.
      • They had the right to water down beer in pubs to improve productivity.
    • The government were allowed to use war industries that were vital for soldiers.
      • They took over the coal industry straight away so that people didn't have to worry about it making a profit for its private owners.
    • The government were allowed to take over buildings and land if they ever needed it to be used for war.
      • Places like estates were turning into training camps for soldiers use.
    • The government could control newspapers and other types of media like the radio.
      • When HMS Audacious was sunk by the Germans, it wasn't  reported and put into the media, so no one knew about it.
