  • Poverty and Wealth Questions
    • Moral/Immoral Occupations
      • CHRISTIAN VIEW: No job is immoral because God gave us free will, so essentially, we have the choice to do whatever we want as a job eg. tobacco shop owner - could be immoral but you are given a choice to have this job, so it can't be condemned by God
    • Charities & Aid Agencies
      • CHRISTIAN VIEW: CAFOD - international aid agency working to alleviate poverty in developing countries. Evidence: "Carry each other's burdens."
    • Wealth
      • CHRISTIAN VIEW: Wealth isn't bad but it can cause selfishness. Money should be used to help others instead. Evidence: "For the love of money is the root of all evil."
      • CHRISTIAN VIEW: Wealth is good when used to help others. This is because the Sanctity of Life says everyone should be treated with dignity and respect. Evidence: Parable of the Sheep and the Goats
      • ALTERNATIVE VIEW: Buddhists see wealth as an outcome of good actions in the past. Therefore, it can bring happiness. Evidence: "A kind man who makes good use of wealth is rightly said to possess a great treasure."
    • Helping the Poor
      • CHRISTIAN VIEW: It is a Christian duty to care for the poor because we were all made in God's image (Sanctity of Life), so we are all equal. Evidence: "For God shows no partiality."
      • CHRISTIAN VIEW: Humans are all judged by God/Christ. If you haven't helped people in your life, you will go to Hell = reason to give to the poor. Evidence: "For we all must appear before the judgement seat of Christ."
      • ALTERNATIVE VIEW: Muslims feel compassion towards the poor. They give money to the poor (Zakat). Evidence: "He is not a believer who eats his fill while his neighbour remains hungry by his side."
