  • Popular Culture in 1930s America
    • Music and Film
      • Jazz was still popular with artists such as Louis Armstrong which had been previously popular as well as new artists such as Bing Crosby. Vinyl records became a popular way of listening to music. 60 million went to the cinemas every week to watch more cheerful films such as Disney's cartoons to escape reality.
    • Comic books
      • Comics were bright, easy to read and cheap. This appealed to the masses of young people looking to escape to a world of adventure with positive role models such as superman.
    • The Arts
      • Thanks to FDR setting up the WPA which provided work to many unemployed artists of all types, this provided the country with a lot of new creative works. However, many people thought this was a waste of money
