  • Polysaccharides
    • Starch
      • Formed from Alpha Glucose. Contains Alpha 1-4 glycosidic bonds and Alpha 1-6 glycosidic bonds
        • Branched structure. Contains some hydrogen bonds in chains and some between branches
          • Insoluble in water.
          • Energy store in animal cells
    • Cellulose
      • Formed from Alpha Glucose-contains Alpha 1-4 glycosidic bonds
        • Function: energy store
      • Unbranched  chain. Compact helical structure
        • Insoluble in water
    • Glycogen
      • Formed from Beta Glucose-contains Beta 1-4 bonds
      • Every other glucose rotates 180 degrees so hydroxyl groups are adjacent. Long, unbranched chains in layers. Hydrogoen bonds between chains provides tensile strength.
      • Insoluble in water. Forms cell wall in plant cells
