- Story
- Prisoners chained in a cave since birth unable to turn their heads
- Sat facing a wall which is all they can see
- A fire burns behind them, projecting shadows onto the wall of people and objects passing in front of the fire
- When a prisoner is freed, he realises that the shadows were not 'real'
- He steps outside and is temporarily blinded by the light, but then comes to see the beauty of the real word
- He see's how the sun is shining on everything to reveal its true form and how everything in this world is perfect
- He returns to tell the other prisoners, but they do not believe him and threaten to murder him, so they remain in ignorance of the true world
