- Vacuum Forming
- Diagram
- Thermoplastic Sheets, Most commonly HIPS
- Compression Moulding
- Diagram
- Thermosettig Plastics: Phenol, Urea and Melmine Formaldehyde
- The mould is heated and the plastic inserted. The mould is then forced together to compress the plastic
- Injection Moulding
- Diagram
- Polythene, Polystyrene, Polypropylene and Nylon
- Plastic granules are placed in the hopper and are heated as they are forced through a heated tube by a screw. The heated plastic is forced into a mould and cooled before being released.
- Extrusion
- Diagram
- Polythene, PVC and Nylon
- Plastic granules are put into the hopper and heated as they are forced through the tube by a screw. The heated plastic is the forced through a die and cooled before being cut to shape
- Line Bending
- Diagram
- Thermoplastic Sheets
- The place where the line is to be bent is heated across the heating element. Then it is bent to shape using a jig
- Blow Moulding
- Diagram
- Polythene, PVC and Polypropylene
- Liquid plastic is dropped between a mould. The mould is then closed and air forced in to force the plastic to the sided. The mould is then cooled and the item removed.
