    • What is psychology?
      • The study of mind (thoughts & feelings) and behaviour (what we say & do). Philosophers have also tried to make sense of mind & behaviour through many ideas, three of which are important to understanding modern psychology
        • Dualism and Materialism
          • Dualism is is the view that mind and body are fundamentally different things
          • Materialism is the view that all mental phenomena is reducible to physical phenomena
        • Realism and Idealism
          • Realism is the view that perceptions of the physical world are produced entirely by information from the sensory organs
          • Idealism is the view that perceptions of the physical world are the brain's interpretation of information from the sensory organs
        • Empiricism and Nativism
          • Nativism is the view that some knowledge is innate rather than acquired
          • Empiricism is the view that all knowledge is acquired through experience
