  • Particles
    • SOLIDS
      • Particles vibrate on the spot
      • Arranged in a regular pattern that doesn't change
      • Have a fixed shape and volume
      • Tight forces between particles called BONDS - keep the aprticles in the same place
    • LIQUIDS
      • Particles still have bonds but they are weaker
      • Particles are able to slip and slide past each other
      • Have a fixed volume but change shape to fit the bottom of their container
    • GASES
      • Particles have no bonds - they can go wherever they want
      • The particles go in one direction, hit a 'wall' then zip off somewhere else
      • Have no fixed shape or volume - they take the shape and fill their container
