  • P7.1 Naked Eye Astronomy
    • The Moon
      • The Moon appears to change shape/phase due to the proportion that is lit up by the Sun.
        • This is "waxing" and "waning"
    • Position of a Star
      • Right Ascension
        • Measures the angle east from the vernal equinox point. The angle is usually measured ion hours, minutes and seconds.
          • Vernal equinox-two moments in the year when the Sun is exactly above the Equator  and day and night are of equal length; also, either of the two points in the sky where the elliptical and the celestial equator intersect
      • Declination
        • Measures the angle of the star above or below the celestial equator. The angle is usually measured in degrees and minutes.
    • Eclipses
      • The Moon- Not every month because the Moons orbiting axis is tilting.
      • Solar Eclipse:Sun>Moon>Earth
      • Lunar Eclipses: Sun>Earth>Moon
    • Days
      • Sidereal Day: 23 hours 56 minutes related to position of the stars
      • Solar Day: 24 hours related to position of the Sun
    • Planets Appearing to move faster
      • Earth has a faster inner orbit then [Mars] so it over takes it and it appears to move backwards
