  • P2.6 Radioactivity
    • 6.1 Observing nuclear Radiation
      • Nuclear Radiation is something emitted from an unstable nucleus.
      • Who discovered Nuclear radiation?
        • Henri Becquerel in 1896. When an image of a key appeared on  photographic plates he had in a draw.
    • Types of radiation
      • Beta- high energy electrons created in and emitted from unstable nuclei
      • Gamma- Electromagnetic radiation emitted from an unstable nuclei in radioactive substances.
      • Alpha- 2 protons and 2 nuetrons. Emmitted by unstable nuclei .
    • Radioactive Decay: is a completely random process (like throwing a coin). We know particles will give out radiation, but we cannot predict when this happens.
