        • Turkish fleet are heading for Cyprus and the Duke tells Othello that his services are needed

          • 'against all rules of nature'
        • Othello tells the Duke and Brabantio how he wooed Desdemona
          • 'my boyish days'
          • 'I think this tale would win my daughter too'
        • Desdemona arrives
          • 'Where most you owe obedience?'
          • 'Look to her Moor, if thou hast eyes to see, she has deceived her father, and may thee'
            • Othello replies 'My life on her faith' - very ironic
        • They leave. Iago and Roderigo are alone. Roderigo is threatening suicide because he loves Desdemona
          • 'virtue? a fig'
          • 'it is merely a lust of the blood and a permission of  the will'
          • 'Go make money'
            • Shows that Iago can successfully manipulate
              • 'I am changed'
        • Roderigo leaves, Iago is alone. He reveals his true intentions
          • 'But for my sport and profit'
          • Refers to Roderigo as a 'fool'
          • 'abuse Othello's ear
    • Iago and Roderigo are talking; Iago is bitter about Cassio's promotion and they both reflect bitterly on 'the Moor' 's good fortune
      • 'I am not what I am
    • They go to Brabantio's house and Iago tells him that his daughter is having sex with a black man
      • 'gross clasps of a lascivious Moor'
      • 'Barbary horse'
      • 'an old black ram is tupping your white ewe'
      • 'thick lips'
      • 'poison his delight'
