    • Legislation
      • The Equality Act (2010)
        • Ensures they aren't discriminated against within work
        • Applies to them if they are in a wheelchair and because they may struggle with equality in work due to condition.
      • The Care Standards Act
        • Used to ensure that they get proper care in care home
        • Relevant as most with OA are elderly
    • Can be caused by a genetic predisposition and age/environmental factors.
    • Life Quality Factors (The ones it directly affects)
      • Social Contact
        • May  not get as much social contact as unable to ravel to far away places. However might get it from support groups and family.
      • Exercise
        • Means that they may not be able to participate in exercises anymore. However may also do certain ones suggested by physiotherapist.
      • Physcial comfort
        • Constant stiffness and pain can make their physical comfort go down. They may feel constantly irritated.
      • Freedom from pain
        • May be affected by constantly feeling pain in joints.
      • Occupation
        • Affected by not being able to go and travel places
      • Physical safety
        • May be affected by their grip. Constantly dropping things. Also not being able to go up stairs and move properly.
      • Psychological security
        • Make them increasingly distressed as condition progresses.
    • Treatments
      • joint replacemnet surgery

      • Drugs for pain relief
      • Cream for joints
      • injections to reduce pain
