- Edelweiss Pirates- beat up Hitler Youth, posted anti-Nazi posters. Response- 12 of Cologne hung and charged
- Swing Youth- played Jazz, swing and Jewish music in bars. Response- closed bars
- White Rose- handed out anti-Nazi leaflets. Response- denounced, arrested, executed
- Threat level- passive resistance, undermined not threatened
- Church Groups
- Protestants- formed Confessional Church of 6k in opposition to Reich Church of 2k. Response- 800 clergy sent to camps
- Catholics- spoke out against Nazis. Pope wrote letter criticising Hitler, read out in church. Response- 400 priests to Dachau
- Threat level- low, passive, clergy feared abolition of church so didn't resist
- The Military
- Kreisaw Castle- made plans for after Hitler's downfall, reached out to generals e.g. Stauffenberg. Response- army made to reswear oath
- Operation Valkyrie- Stauffenberg placed bombs near Hitler in July 1944 but failed. Response- Stauffenberg arrested, 5,746 executed
- Threat level- active resistance, high potential of danger to regime and Hitler
- Left wing
- Communists- minor sabotages, leaflets, Knockel created cells e.g. Red Orchestral with Boysen who permeated gov for Moscow. Response- Gestapo, trials
- Workers- strikes in 1935-6 and towards end of war due to economic discontent. Response- little action due to low resistance
- Threat level- weakened due to leave to fight in Spain. Low due to preservation in anticipation for Soviet takeover.
