The Steps of a Heart Beat

  • One Heart Beat
    • Sinoatrial node creates an electrical impulse
      • The electrical impulse travels across the walls of the right atria
        • Atrial systole is triggered
          • The atrioventricular node recognises the impulse
            • It causes a short delay to allow the atria to completely empty
              • It then carries the impulse through the purkyne fibres in the septum of the heart
                • The impulse enters the ventricles
                  • Ventricular Systole is triggered
