      • A balanced diet contains lots of different types of food to provide the suitable nutrients, vitamins and minerals required.
      • There is NO food that contains all the nutrients the body needs.
      • Reasons for:
        • Unused energy is stored as fat, leading to obesity.
        • Suitable energy can be available for activity.
        • Needed for energy, growth and hydration.
    • Balanced Diet Contains:
      • Fat- is also an energy source, that provides more energy then carbs but at a low intensity.
        • 15%-30%
      • Carbohydrates- are the main and preferred energy source for all types of intensities.
        • 55% to 60%
      • Protein- is for growth and repair of tissue muscle.
        • 15%-20%
      • Vitamins and Minerals- are for maintaining the efficient working of the body systems and general health.
    • Dehydration
      • A harmful reduction in the amount of water in the body.
      • Hydration prevents dehydration.
      • Results in:
        • Blood thickening
        • Increases heart rate
        • Increases body temp.
        • Slower reactions
        • Muscle fatigue
  • Carbohydrates- are the main and preferred energy source for all types of intensities.
    • 55% to 60%
