      • Demotivating = Some staff may feel like they work overtime whereas others work a lot less & Minimal co-ordination is possible increasing the challenges

      • Managers ask staff opinions before making decisions

      • Staff are given the power/responsibility to make decisions
      • Motivating = Staff feel valued & they can increase their skill set
      • Demotivating = More experienced staff may feel overlooked & Managers may feel like they're losing their jobs
      • Theorists = Maslow Esteem/Self - actualisation & Herzberg - Motivator
    • Job Enrichment
      • Staff have more responsibility & challenges
      • Motivating = Staff feel valued & increases interestingness of job
      • Demotivating = Unwanted burden & too challenging
      • Theorists = Herzberg - Motivators & Maslow - Esteem/self act
    • Empowerment
      • Staff are given more authority
      • Motivating = Staff feel respected/valued & They can increase their skills/experiences
      • Demotivating = More experienced staff may feel overlooked & Managers may feel like they're losing their jobs
      • Theorists = Maslow - Esteem/Self - act. & Herzberg - Motivator
    • Job Rotation
      • Staff are moved between roles of the same complexity levels
      • Motivating = More interesting jobs & Staff learn new skills
      • Demotivating = Prevents productivity as may take time for staff to settle into role (and from specialisation) & Some staff may not tolerate change
      • Theorists = Herzberg - Motivator
