        • This population is growing quickly due to a high birth rate and high proportion of young people
        • It is predicted to have the fourth largest population in the world.
        • Despite this it has a quarter of the poor people in Africa - more than 100 women die from complications in birth each day and 2,000 children under five die from preventable diseases
          • Nigeria is rich in oil
            • This makes 75% of the governments money
            • however the rapid economic growth is more in non oil income areas
            • the biggest growing industry is Manufacturing and services

        • It is  fifth largest contributor to UN peacekeeping missions
