- Housing:
- Up to 10,000 new homes have replaced the old high-rise tower blocks- particularly family sized houses that are affordable for either rent or purchase.
- Much of the existing housing has either been replaced or renovated.
- Wealth and employment:
- Skill training has been provided for local people.
- New workplaces.
- Better transport to work (buses)- few residents have cars.
- Education:
- Improvements to primary and secondary schools. in 2007, 55.5% of Newham's students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at A* to C- double the rate of 1996 (27.9%)
- Health and welfare:
- New health care, library, community centre and upgraded play areas for children.
- Open spaces have been redesigned, and there have been moves to make the streets safer.
