  • nervous system
    • the CNS is made up of the brain and spinal cord
      • the pns is made up of all the sensory neurons,a cluster of neurons called ganglia and connector neurons that attach to the CNS.
    • the brain plays a missive role in the nervous system
      • my brain is made up of many parts.
        • cerebrum- responsible for sensing, thinking, learning, emotion, consciousness and voluntary movment
        • corpus callosum- bridge of fibres passing information between the two cerebral hemesphere
        • thalamus- relay center from the cortex;handles incoming and outgoing signals.
        • hypothalamus-responsible for regulating basic biological needs: hunger, thirst, temperater cotrol
        • hippocampus- part of limbic system involved in learning and memory.
        • pituitary gland-"master" gland that regulate other endocrine glands.
        • pons-involed in sleep and arousal
        • medulla-responsible for regeulating largely unconscious functions such as breathing and circulation.
        • reticular formation-group of fibers that carry stimulation related to sleep and arousal through brainstem.
        • spinal cord-responsible for transmitting information between brain and rest of body;handles simple reflexes
        • brainstem
        • cerebellum-structure that coordinates fine muscle movement,balance.
        • amygdala-part of limbic system involved in emotion and aggression.
