  • Negatives of respite care
    • Cost - if a family has to self-fund their respite care, there can be a huge financial burden out upon them
    • Conflicts in scheduling - it may be difficult to find a reliable respite care that is fully available if, and when, the primary carer needs it
    • Trust issues - it can be incredibly difficult for a primary caregiver to fully trust that another individual would be able to provide care for the individual at the same level as they do
    • Guilt about taking a break - a primary caregiver may find it difficult to take time out of their caring role as they may feel guilty about leaving the individual with another person
