        • trained by a Yorkist priest from Oxford: Richard Simons

      • 4. Landed in northwest of England with approx 8,000 men
      • 5. worryingly, Henry Percy, the most powerful noble did nothing to prevent Simnel + remained neutral
    • Henry paraded the true Earl of Warwick who had been in the tower to show that Simnel was a pretender
      • Very successful in ending the threat
        • Simnel = captured + sent to work in the Royal kitchen
          • (later promoted to King's Falconer) = earned favour in royal eyes
        • 28 Acts of Attainder passed against traitors = reinforced wealth for the monarch
        • but Yorkists claims still remained
    • Battle of Stoke
      • Henry army = 12,000 Simnel army = 8,000
      • Henry's army had superior armour
      • 1/2 Yorkists killed
      • 1/4 Lancastrians killed
      • People killed: Earl of Lincoln + Lovell
      • Simnel = captured + sent to work in the Royal kitchen

      • Armies met at Stoke in Nottinghamshire
