  • Natural Selection
    • Mutation
      • Key in natural selection in case the environment changes.
      • eg. A disease killed a whole species but a few had a mutated gene which gave them  immunity so the species was able to rebuild again.
    • Chain
      • All organisms in the population compete for food.
        • The organisms with the characteristics most suited to the conditions of the environment will survive.
          • eg. the best camoflage, the best eyesight to find food, the best/"fittest" organisms will survive.
          • The organisms that survive are more likely to breed successfully.
            • The genes that have enabled this are passed onto their offspring.
              • Sometimes these genes accidentally change.
