    • Army tried to cover it, but one soldier reported it to the congress.
    • Only the officer in charge was put on trial. He was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
    • Led to further protests against the war.
    • Not a rare occurrence.
    • Photographs were found.
    • American troops started treating civilians roughly as they believed they were helping the Viet Cong.
