  • Moscovici (1969)  Minority influence study
    • Aim
      • To investigate the role of a consistent minority in an ambiguous situation
    • Procedure
      • 32 groups of 6
        • 4 real participants and 2 confederates
      • Answers given verbally
      • In the consistent condition, confederates said all slides were green
      • In the inconsistent condition, confederates said 24 were green and 12 were blue
    • Results
      • 8.2% agreement in consistent condition
        • 32% agreeing just once
      • 1.25% agreement in inconsistent condition
    • Evaluation
      • Gender bias, 172 female Americans so can't generalise
      • Shows importance of consistency to a minority influence
      • Deception of PPs (thought they were doing a colour perception test)
      • Artificial task that can't represent real life so lacks external validity
