  • Modernism
    • Modernity society emerged in the late 18th century
    • Has four characteristics: nation state, capitalism, rationality, science and technology, individualism
      • Nation state: the world has separate states in which they have a distinctive language, culture and norms
        • Capitalism: capitalism is the economy of modern societies and focuses on wealth and labour divisions causing class conflicts
          • Rationality, science and technology: decrease in religion and increase in knowledge therefore there is a progress in research e.g. medicine
            • Individualism: decrease in traditional values and increase in finding own identity, also increase in egoism
