- Aim: To see whether Americans would follow orders like Germans had during the Holocaust
- Procedure: 2 PPs were assigned the role of either teacher or learner. The learner was always a confederate
- The voltage of the shock increased every time the learner got an answer wrong from 15v to 450v
- Results: all participants went to 300 volts, 65% went all the way to 450
- Milgram did 18 variations of the study
