- Afghanistan had an approx. pop. of over 28million, nearly 3million were refugees.
- Life was hard with conflict, drought, poverty, corruption & lack of jobs led to people leaving their homes.
- Many refugees went to Pakistan and Iran others attempted journey to UK & ended up in the 'Jungle'
- The 'Jungle is in Calais. Conditions:
- Getting more permanent.
- 1 meal a day provided.
- Large amounts of clothing donated.
- Built a school & Church to have normality.
- Have a library set up by volunteers.
- Living conditions are poor- lack of sanitation & housing- live in tents.
- People die or become disabled from injuries that are not treated as there's no health care.
- People are risking their lives trying to get on lorries & moving trains.
- Home to now 6000 & as it's overcrowded in the slums so people have scabies with nowhere to wash clothes or bedding.
