- Random access memory (RAM): Used for temporary storage of data. It is volatile so data is lost when power is switched off
- Read only memory (ROM): Used for permanent storage of data
- Flash memory is also used for the permanent storage of data
- Cache memory is used for temporary storage of frequently accessed data and is quicker than RAM but is still volatile
