  • Meiosis
    • fertilisation- the point where two gametes fuse
      • gamete- cells with a single set of chromosomes(haploid- one copy)
      • during    fertilising, the gametes combine to form a zygote which contains two copies of the a chromosome
    • zygote- cells formed by fusion of two gametes
    • meiosis is a type of cell division to produce gametes (sperm and egg cells)
    • The first cell division involves the chromosome pairs separating to opposite poles
      • In the second division, the chromosomeseparates to opposite poles
