- fertilisation- the point where two gametes fuse
- gamete- cells with a single set of chromosomes(haploid- one copy)
- during fertilising, the gametes combine to form a zygote which contains two copies of the a chromosome
- zygote- cells formed by fusion of two gametes
- meiosis is a type of cell division to produce gametes (sperm and egg cells)
- The first cell division involves the chromosome pairs separating to opposite poles
- In the second division, the chromosomeseparates to opposite poles
