- Media Influences: Effects of Computer Games on Aggression
- Experimental studies, Correlational studies, longitudinal studies, meta analysis.
- Correlational: DeLisi et al 2013 - using structured interviews, found positive correlation between juvenile offenders with histories of agg behaviour (hitting teachers) and how often they played and enjoyed vid games.
- Meta-Analysis: Anderson et al 2010 - performed meta analyses of 136 studies and found exposure to violent computer games was associated with increases in agg behaviours, thoughts and feelings. True for males and females across collectivist and individualist cultures.
- Experiemental: Bartholow and Anderson 2002 found ppts who played violent games delivered significantly higher levels of white noise than those that played non violent games (5.97 decibels v 4.60 decibels)
- Gentile and Stone 2005 - found short term increases in levels of physiological arousal, hostile feelings and agg behaviour following violent game play.
- Longitudinal: Anderson et al 2007 - surveyed 430 children (7-9 yr olds) twice during school year, found children with high exposure to violent vid games became more verbally and physically agg and less prosocial.
