      • one of the three apparitions from the witches
      • Macduff is the "bloody child" and can harm Macbeth. the witches trick Macbeth into believing he is invincible.
      • the three witches never wanted to succeed and to see Macbeth become king, they follow throughout being evil and encouraging it.

      • Macbeth is contemplating whether or not these predictions are a good thing or bad thing
      • He seems to see it as good thing as it is bringing him joy
      • This clearly shows that his ambition his clouding his judgment and thus he believes that killing the king is a good thing
      • ‘darkness’ is a motif that is seen throughout the play representing the supernatural and our inner evil.
      • they don't tell the truth, the witches twist their words and manipulate Macbeth into doing evil deeds which leads to his own "harm"
