- Lithosphere
- It is the solid outer section of the Earth, including the crust, as well as the upper part of the mantle.
- The lithosphere is made up of tectonic plates
- If rock is sub ducted it will melt and relase carbon into the atmosphere
- Carbon in the lithosphere is stored in the soil in the form of organic and inorganic carbon.
- Carbon can leave soil through soil respiration or by erosion.
- Which is carried into rivers or oceans and enters the hydrosphere.
- Carbon can leave soil through soil respiration or by erosion.
- Once the organics become lithified, they become crude oil or gas (fossil fuels)
- They are highly stable and remain in the lithosphere for many years.
- Lithosphere -> atmosphere = burning fossil fuels
- Carbon is stored in the soil and in sedimentary rock in the form of calciferous rock (limestone)
