- Light
- Light travels in straight lines. If light could bend, there would be no shadows. Sunbeams and lasers all travel in straight lines.
- Luminous objects are objects that give out their own light
- All other objects are non-luminous and can only be seen if light bounces off them.
- Reflection
- Refraction
- Refraction is the change of direction in light. It causes straws to look bent in water and distorted views in a swimming pool
- Refracted- inside glass Emergent- outside glass.
- Refraction is the change of direction in light. It causes straws to look bent in water and distorted views in a swimming pool
- Dispersion
- A prism splits a ray of white light into colour
- Refraction is the bending of a wave when it enters a medium where its speed is different. The refraction of light when it passes from a fast medium to a slow medium bends the light ray toward the normal to the boundary between the two media.
- Red light is refracted the least because it has the longest wave length
- Violet light is refracted the most because it has the shortest wave length
- Coloured objects and coloured light
- Light absorbs or reflects the three primary colours- red, green and blue. For example, in red light, a red, white, or orange object would appear red, but a cyan object would appear black as it has no red in it.
