      • We remember because of how info is processed
      • Memory is a by-product of the info processing occurs when attending to info
      • Two main types of rehearsal to transfer info into LTM
    • Structural = processing information by what it looks like e.g CAPITAL LETTERS
      • Shallowest type of processing information because it involves less cognitive effort = not as well remembered
    • Phonetic = processing information by what it sounds like e.g RHYMING
    • Semantic = processing information by the meaning e.g SAME MEANING AS ANOTHER WORD
      • Deepest form of processing information because involves the most cognitive effort = better remembered
