- De La Pole on the Royal Council! Met with the council in February 1487 to discuss the threat of Simnel and possible measures against it
- 1) Lambert Simnel claims to be the Earl of Warwick

- 10 year old son of a joiner from Oxford

- In Ireland, La Pole and Lovell met with Irish nobles, such as Gerald Fitzgerald - Earl of Kildare
- 5) English and Irish crowned Simnel King n Dublin May 1487
- 6) Rebel army arrived in the North in June 1487. Henry Percy - Earl of Northumberland did nothing to stop the rebels
- Henry Percy, a local lord, was the first line of defence. Stayed neutral and didn't attack
- 7) Despite his lack of experience of King, he acted quickly and decisively against the rebels
- He ordered the coasts to be guarded
- Once he had intelligence of where the rebels landed, he began to move North West, gathering supplies and numbers as he went
- By 8th May, Henry arrived at Kenilworth Castle to wait for rebels. Then marched North for the BATTLE OF STOKE

- Considered one-sided. German good, but lack of them. Irish little experience or equipment
- Martin Schwartz and John De La Pole KILLED
- Lovell disappeared - never seen again
- Simnel spared. Sent to work in the King's Kitchens and then worked as the King's Falconer

- 2) De La Pole fled to Burgundy to visit Margaret (April 1487) - Here, they gained money, power and troops

- Lovell disappeared - never seen again

- Enabled Henry to secure his rightful position as King, anointed by God.
- After this, Henry passed 28 ACTS OF ATTAINDER (declare someone guilty with no trial, could take estates and land) and the use of the COURT OF STAR CHAMBER (HEAR CASES)
